E-911 FAQs
Q: Can you give me legal advice about this situation or problem? A: No, we cannot. However, we can have a police officer speak with you regarding your particular situation or you can contact the Office of the Bullitt County Attorney at (502) 543-1505 for further information or guidance.
Q: Is it alright for me to have a controlled burn today? A: The Bullitt County E-911 Center cannot give you “permission” to burn, the responsibility for the fire is that of the property owner. By Kentucky law, burning is prohibited during the statewide Fire Hazard Seasons. During these times, beginning the period of February 15th through April 30th and again October 1st through December 15th, it is unlawful to burn within 150 feet of any woodland or brush land. The only exception during this time is between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. or when the ground is covered in snow. If you are considering having a controlled burn, please contact us with your location information which will enable us to advise the fire department should someone make a report of the smoke. Also remember it is illegal to burn anything other than wood or paper products.
Q: When should I use 911 to call? A: The 911 lines are reserved for serious calls that require immediate emergency assistance such as medical emergencies, crimes in progress, vehicle accidents, and other potentially serious or life threatening situations or events. If you do not have a serious emergency, we encourage you to use the 543-7074 non-emergency number.
Q: Dan I get a copy of a police report from Bullitt County E-911? A: Although we dispatch for 6 different police agencies, the Bullitt County E-911 Center does not retain their written reports. They must be obtained from the individual agency that originally took the report.
Q: How can I get a copy of the dispatch log of what happened regarding a specific police, fire, or EMS response? A: You will first have to fill out an Open Records Request for information. This request will be reviewed along with the specific information that is requested. If that information is accessible by the Open Records Request the information will be released to you. If the information is not accessible such as cases where there is pending law enforcement action, then a court order may be needed to release that information.
